At the Townsville Golf Club we pride ourselves on having a thriving, successful junior program, tailored to suit all ages.
Our aim is to introduce the fun of golf to a younger generation. By becoming a member of the golf club, your child can learn new sporting skills, life skills such as etiquette and discipline, and make many new friends.
We offer memberships and an extensive program of events both at club and district level.
The club has three qualified coaching professionals who are all committed to the junior program.
Over the years, we have been successful in producing many fine young golfers, some of whom have gone on to become golf professionals.
Juniors meet on a Saturday afternoon and the following programs are available:
The beginner's course is held over 4 weeks and is designed for basic learning in a safe and fun environment. At this stage, no clubs are required and nor does the junior need to be a member of the Townsville Golf Club. The only cost is for lessons.
After the initial 4 weeks, the beginner will then graduate through three levels (3, 6 and 9-holers). Promotions through these levels will be dependent on their ability to play under their handicap and understand basic rules. The decision to promote the junior rests with the Junior Co-ordinator and the Club Professional. Again, the focus is on learning the sport in a safe and comfortable environment while still having fun.
Beginner juniors need to register at the pro shop each week at 3pm for a 3.30pm start. 3, 6 and 9-hole juniors will need to register at 2.15 for a 2.30pm coaching session.
