Established in 1893, the Townsville Golf Club is the oldest golf
club in Queensland as well as being the fourth oldest golf club in Australia.
The Club has been situated at three different localities in Townsville. From
1893 to 1921 at Kissing Point, 1921 to 1924 at Aitkenvale and our present
Rosslea site since 18th April 1924.
In earlier times such clubs,
including ours, were regarded as the somewhat exclusive domain of prominent
legal, business, medical and service personnel.
It wasn't long before our membership
of men and women was more reflective of all walks of Townsville life.
Certainly, that is the case today.
Whether you are considering joining
as a full or social member, the Townsville Golf Club has something for
everyone. From the seasoned golfer on a low handicap, to those who like a day
out with friends, The Townsville Golf Club is one of the most pleasant courses
in North Queensland.
The first stage of the course
redevelopment was completed in 2016 and Stage two was completed in 2020. The new clubhouse precinct completed construction in late 2022 which includes a brand new driving range.
The course is relatively flat with
wide and fully reticulated fairways, very large undulating greens, hundred year
old rain trees lining many of the fairways, and seasonal blooming, colourful
trees.
While the Townsville Golf Club has a
proud history and commitment to the traditions of the game, its excellent
facilities are there for the current and future enjoyment of our wonderful
sport.

Round 4 of the NHS Sharp Shooter Comp was held 30/11/23
The shot was a testy 47m shot over a bunker to a reasonable receptive green.
Craig Wall held the early NTP at 76cm before being pipped by round 1 winner Bryce Vartuli at 60cm.
Despite many valiant attempts, Bryce's shot held & he now holds the NHS Sharp Shooter which entitles him to $5 std drinks for the week. His "mates" are expected to shout him a drink if he puts the Sharp Shooter mug in front of you.
The Hole in One jackpot now sits at $760.

22/11/23: URGENT REMINDER FOR GUESTS
To All Members and guests of Townsville Golf Club,
Subject: Urgent Reminder to Pedestrian Safety Awareness & Compliance with Traffic Signage
The Townsville Golf Club, in cooperation with Townsville City Council and concerned community members, wishes to remind all members and guests of the vital importance of pedestrian safety within and in the vicinity of the golf club, particularly when exiting the off-street car park area to Lindsay St.
Recent Observations and Concerns:
Townsville City Council has advised the club, that there have been incidents involving vehicles exiting our off-street car park and pedestrians using the adjacent pathways. This is a serious safety concern that requires immediate action from all our members and guests.
Immediate Safety Actions & Compliance:
Stop Bar Awareness:
All drivers must come to a complete stop at the stop bars located at car park exit. This rule is non-negotiable and for the safety of all.
Signage Compliance:
Observe and comply with all posted signage related to vehicle and pedestrian directions and restrictions.
Upcoming Safety Enhancements:
The TGC Development Committee is actively working on additional safety enhancements, including coloured pathway, stencil lettering treatments and entry statement modifications as per our design consultant's recommendations. These improvements will be made in consideration of both pedestrian safety and the aesthetic value of our club.
Your Role as Members:
We urge you to exercise caution and patience when driving out of the club's parking areas. Remember that the safety of our pedestrian traffic, which includes some of our own members and their families, must be a top priority.
Please be informed that any non-compliance with these safety measures will be viewed seriously and may result in actions as deemed necessary by the club's management.
We thank you for your immediate attention to this matter and for your cooperation in keeping Townsville Golf Club a safe environment for everyone.
For any concerns or observations related to pedestrian safety, please contact the club's management.
Let's work together for a safer TGC.
Kind Regards
Mitch Bligh - Club Manager
